“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11
This post is not meant to be morbid, but rather, an important reminder. Waking up this morning to a slew of news stories surrounding murder, accidents, and other unexpected tragedies, the idea of making sure my family is taken care of when my time comes, is very much on my mind. So today I'm sharing the online will/trust service I'm working on this week. It's called Christian Trustmaker, and it was introduced to me last summer during church. (Why has it taken me so long to do this? We had to wait for the adoption to finalize so we could list Ryan as our son, legally).
From their website:
Christian Trustmaker is designed by a team of experienced estate planning attorneys, ministry leaders and technology experts to provide an easy way to prepare top quality estate planning documents. Whether creating or updating your estate plan, gain peace of mind knowing you are protecting your family, while at the same time meeting your stewardship objectives, reducing taxes, and avoiding probate. Our easy, step-by-step interview questionnaire guides you through the entire process, offering practical information and scriptural insights along the way. Available plans include Will and Testament, Revocable Living Trust, Power of Attorney for Property, Advance Medical Directive and more.
They have 3 different plans, and after answering some initial questions, we found a Living Trust Package would be the best for our family. In addition to the actual will, this plan avoids probate and related costs, and handles everything according to Scripture.
We are still in the middle of our survey, but I wanted to share this for now, and encourage anyone to consider it.
