Three Things Right Now

1. Ryan is still wild about Thomas and Friends. Last night, he was playing with the mini coaster, then switched over to the power wheels Thomas, and got a little miffed when the push-Thomas couldn't go on the track. So, together, we (manually) pushed the two Thomases up and down the length of the house. I tried to convince Ryan that Thomas needed to get his rest at Tidmouth Sheds, but he wasn't having it. It was after 10pm at this point, so I picked up Ryan's little wooden Thomas and started playing its music. Amidst the tantrum, I was proud of myself for holding firm that it was time for bed. Injecting some of Ryan's favorite music on my iPhone (right now, its a Christmas tune called "Snow" by The Band of Merrymakers) and a nighttime helping of milk, I got him in his crib and asleep within 20 minutes. Holy cannoli that was exhausting!

2. I'm always trying to find things to do with Ryan that 1) gets us out of dodge, but isn't too far 2) is reasonably priced, and 3) would hold his interest. I visited the Los Angeles Mommy Poppins page and found a free day at the Autry Museum. So, we, along with Pa, headed out 90 minutes southwest to see some cowboys!
I'm happy to say that Ryan was so well behaved for the museum. My dad was proud as punch to show Ryan the pictures and statues and exhibits that would otherwise bore me. Ryan even sat with his Pa and watched some clips of old black-and-white westerns.

3. Nap time has been pretty consistent in the P&P house. For that I'm grateful. I have been aiming for a 2pm nap so I can finish work and still have some time for dinner prep and reading a chapter or two. Ryan stopped morning naps around last September, so the afternoon naps are about 3 hours long. Then, its dinner, playing, bath, playing, and bedtime. This cycle is working so far, and I'm praying it continues when Baby #2 comes (whenever that happens).
