Today's link up is all about guys. I could write one super hilarious book about blind dates and bad relationships, but I've decided to focus on my guy, Stephan, who is the only one that matters!
1. How We Met
After courting on MySpace (!) at the beginning of July 2007, we talked on the phone for awhile, texted and emailed, and then decided to meet in person.
We met July 20, 2007, at the Starbucks in the local mall. Stephan had bought tickets to this movie, where we sat uncomfortable for 90 minutes:
Neither of us were especially forward, so after walking me to my car, we said goodnight without a hug. #sadface
2. How We Started Dating
I was surprised to receive a text on my drive home thanking me for a nice time. We continued talking on the phone, texting and emailing the next week and then on July 27, 2007, we met at a local restaurant for dinner.
We had agreed earlier to see this movie:
I drove us from the restaurant in my car, Maroon 5 CD playing, to the movie theatre we visited just a week earlier.
During the movie, my man made his move and held my hand. #swoon
I drove us back to the restaurant, where I got a hug goodbye. But all was not lost...I texted him on my way home (before texting & driving was illegal) and confessed I wanted a kiss goodnight. We both turned around and met to kiss goodnight -
for 4 hours. #happyface
3. How We Got Engaged
A few things about me:
a. I'm the least impatient person you'll ever meet,
b. I'm a big planner,
and c. I can't be surprised.
a. after 8 months of dating (this would be March 2008), I took the plunge and asked Stephan where the relationship was going. He and I agreed this was it, and we wanted to get married. HOWEVER - he had to pass his Professional Engineer license test before he would think about that step. The test was in October. I sulked but agreed to support him. The very weekend after the test, I asked him when we were going to get married.
b. I told him all my ideas, who would be in our wedding party, and basically everything I had planned in the waiting for the test to be over.
c. I knew Stephan was looking up rings. I insisted we pick rings out together. #mamalovesdiamonds
a. The VERY next day, we went to the jewelry store and picked out a set. It had to be sized so I had more waiting to do.
b. I told Stephan he had to tell my dad and ask for his blessing. That was the longest day ever!
c. On Veterans Day 2008, I was blindfolded and driven to an undisclosed location. I peaked and knew we were in Temecula Wine Country.
Stephan led me to the winery that I had mentioned I wanted to get married at, and in the vineyard got down on BOTH knees and asked me to be his forever.
