I think there are some women who go on a spa trip for Mother's Day. I would like to meet those women...
What a weekend, indeed!
We started by celebrating my cousin's son's 1st birthday {western themed}
Pa really got into it!
We tried a big kid bounce house for the 1st time!
Ryan loved the toy horse in his goody bag...big thanks to cousin Wyatt!
My morning started super early when Ryan woke up. He's the best gift deliverer:
A couple weeks ago, I was asked if I'd like to speak at my church for adoptive moms. Not knowing exactly what it entailed, I immediately accepted because, 1. I love my church, 2. I love to talk transparently about my experience so that I may reach a family who is considering adopting, and 3. I'm always praying for God to use me more.
As it got closer, the details were explained that I'd be delivering a prayer for adoptive moms along with other moms for all services. Below is a shot from my church's Facebook page:
I don't get nervous about big crowds (the bigger, the better). However, I did feel a certain kind of pressure because not everyone knows I am an adoptive mom and there will always be a small part of me that is insecure in that. One day, that feeling will go away. I prayed all morning that my words might reach someone that needed to hear them.
I hosted lunch and dessert for our moms and sister-in-law, and it was a great afternoon.
I was exhausted!
Ryan was delirious being up past his naptime, so I put him in the car with me to grab some coffee {mommy needed her pm caffeine!}. He didn't make it long:
Happy Mother's Day to ME!
I started reading:
There are many things that I hope to write on in the coming days, but Intercessional Prayer was last night's chapter. For a while now, I've felt my prayers have been superficial. The Gospels say to pray your heart's desire and it will be given {in God's time, and God may not say yes, but will provide according to His will}. But I couldn't help but think that that was all I was doing - praying for the health of my parents, for another baby to adopt, for provision, for direction, for guidance...it all sounded a selfish.
Preston Yancey gives a weekly guide for Intercessional Prayer...the kind that you can meditate on throughout the day, and that would let me connect with God in a deeper way. By definition, its the act of praying to God on behalf of others.
G: "you also joining in helping us through your prayers, so that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the favor bestowed on us through the prayers of many."
~2 Cor 1:11
L: I really want to deepen my prayers with God. We are called as His to "seek and save the lost."
A: This week will be my first go 'round with Intercessional Prayer.
M: Lord, I ask for the worries and stresses that interfere with my connection with you, would cease while I pray for others.
