Notes from Surviving the Doctoral Dissertation:
- don't volunteer criticisms
- don't be negative
- maintain positive relationships with committee
- demonstrate continuity between my project and the work that has been done before
- state gap facts: no recent work, any concerted efforts taking place?
- some data may not need to be included, but will act as stepping stones or aid to close any gaps
