In an effort to drop unwanted pounds, as well as detox from unhealthy habits, we started Whole 30 this week.
It really isn't as hard as I thought it would be to cook breakfasts and dinners. Hubby is pretty satisfied with protein and veggies, so that makes it easy for me.
The biggest struggle is finding everything I want at one store. It took me 4 stores to get everything I needed. Organic is key, which I already purchase, but I had to find ghee, which is clarified butter. Who knew?!
Our first dinner was organic turkey burgers and mushrooms on salad:
I bought a spiralizer to make zucchini noodles (zoodles). Then stir fried organic chicken and broccoli with onions and mushrooms. I made an organic stir fry marinade to cook it in.
The third night was a grass-fed steak for my hubby (I don't eat beef) plus a salad with avocados:
I tried more zoodles and shrimp scampi (made with ghee):
Organic eggs have made an appearance at breakfast all week. While I worked at my church Saturday night, hubby made his own tomato, potato, egg scramble. Tapatio is a good condiment!
We are just 6 days in, and hubby says he feels healthier and has more energy!! That makes me very happy!
G: "Do not eat any detestable thing." - Deut 14:3
L: It's amazing the things we put in our mouths. Have you looked at food labels recently? I've been looking at labels to ensure I am not buying anything with sugar, sulfites, dairy, or soy. It's amazing the long list of hard-to-pronounce chemicals we put in our systems. Healthy does not have to be expensive. We just need to be smart consumers.
A: Honor God with good choices. In times of stress, I've hit the bag of chips instead of my Bible. This stress-eating isn't showing my trust in God, but rather, a choice to try to deal with things on my own. That never works! I have God on my side, so why worry? Rejoice in the face of hardship!
M: God, I'm turning every worry and concern over to you. While it is easy to spend time lamenting over challenges, I need peace and security in knowing you've already planned tomorrow, planned next week. You have already taken care of every issue on my mind.
