This has me BEYOND happy...the officially released gif for the upcoming Netflix revival:
Instagram followers have weighed in, and are up in arms over the lowercase "g" in girls. I didn't notice it at first, but I'm now confused. Is it a nod to the maturity over the past decade?
I have a few unanswered questions that I hope are answered in the upcoming release:
1. This one is pretty obvious: where is Mr. Kim?
2. Why weren't town traditions consistent? Such as the lunch basket auction? The Firelight Festival wasn't every year... The Revolutionary Way Re-Enactment?
3. Dean always wanted a Donna Reed, until he had one. Think back to that episode...he really liked the idea of a wife making dinner for her husband. And when he married Lindsey, she was the spitting image (she DID eventually learn how to make roast beef, albeit too late). But he always pined for Rory. After their final breakup in season 5, he disappeared. Where is he? I know he'll be back in the revival, but I'm so curious what he did with his life.
4. Lauren Graham said in an interview that the way Lorelai mothered is dangerous. The friendship between mother and daughter was not realistic, and shouldn't be viewed as something to model after. I totally agree - the writer's of GG made their relationship seem so great, even when they were fighting. It wasn't a typical mother/daughter dynamic. It just isn't that simple. However, a lot of their interactions were realistic and plausible, and could be modeled after. I am anxious to see how this dynamic plays out.
G: "She is clothed in strength and dignity; she can laught at the days to come." Prov 31:35
L: No mistaking I am a Gilmore Girl fan. I believe the story lines, quick wits, and literary, musical, and artistic references were sheer genius - just perfect. I am on pins and needles waiting for the Netflix revival. I can't wait to see how the Gilmores have developed in the last decade. Though Lorelai asserted in season 6 that they weren't religious, she and Rory definitely portrayed qualities of a Proverbs 31 woman. They were very honest with each other, showed kindness, generosity, community, dignity, strength, and built others up. These are the virtues that I want to teach my children.
A: Good television might be gone by now, but the lessons from shows like Gilmore Girls, The Cosby Show, Full House, etc. are relevant. We can pull inspiration from entertainment because the stories are written by humans like you and me. Theo got caught in lies that Cliff and Claire had to deal with. DJ and Stephanie were always fighting, but always showed love toward each other. Rory's bad choices were redeemed, Lorelai was a willing and happy servant to her community. There are plenty of bad examples in the media of what not to do. I'd like to also focus on the good.
M: God, you've made me a mom and with that comes the mighty task of raising humans to be like Christ. I am grateful for this duty, and pray I do it well. I pray for good influences and the discernment for the bad. I choose Faith over fear and hope over doubt. You have equipped me for the work of motherhood. I pray for patience and wisdom for this task in the name of Jesus.
