I am LOVING this devotional...but, I'm reading it straight through. Sometimes, we need to know all of it.
I have lots of takeaways, but the devotion on dreams made me stop and really examine my dreams:
1. have 4 kids
2. many dogs
3. be a college professor
4. retire in Napa
I am an older mom. I was the same age my mom was when she had me when I became a 1st time mom. That means I'll be much older when I have more kids. God willing.
Hubby mentioned a harsh truth...think about the age you'll be when you want your last child, then add 18. You'll be that old when they graduate high school. Are you willing to last that long?
While that was kind of hurtful, it was very true. But, Mauriello speaks about seasons in life that we go through, that are temporary.
"Life is a series of walking from season to season. Whatever season you're in, ask God to lead you through the tough terrain. He is faithful to provide."
The dreams mentioned above are not outlandish or out of the question. We are hoping to adopt more kids, I will always be willing to adopt more dogs, I'm working toward the degree that will hopefully bring a professorship, and a sweet retirement is something we work hard for everyday.
So why am I worried?
I'm worried because I can't see beyond today. There are seasons, and everything works out according to God's plan. Mauriello stresses to pray over those dreams; to "bathe them in prayer." Because "when/if it's time for them to happen, God will make them happen and your heart will be ready. There is no expiration date on God's ability to make your dreams come to pass."
The idea that my dreams don't have an expiration date is the most comforting piece there. Just because this season has me home and doing more traditional duties doesn't mean my dreams are gone.
G: "Blessed is she who believed that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her." Luke 1:45
L: The idea that my dreams don't have an expiration date is the most comforting piece there. Just because this season has me home and doing more traditional duties doesn't mean my dreams are gone.
A: I pray over my dreams. They are not gone. They are just not ready yet.
M: Lord, I am conforted by your promises for my life. I pray that my dreams bring your glory, for your plan brings them to life. Please help me keep the lies of this world away, or at least allow me the fortitude to drive them away. They are empty and not personal. I pray encouragement over all your children, that they would know you and draw close to you as they work hard to see their dreams come to pass, for your glory.
