Ever play the game "2 Truths and a Lie"? You have to give 3 statements about yourself and others have to discern what is real. I love that game because I win every time. Here's my winning responses:
1. I went to college on a basketball scholarship,
2. I've never broken a bone,
3. I've never gotten a tattoo.
Each of my statements are believable, but, the lie is #1 -- because of my height, no one ever guesses that it is the lie.
I'm reading a terrific book on growth and in it, the author shares the two lies the devil will tell you:
1. it's not your fault,
and
2. you don't have enough
I was so struck by these lies, because I am so deeply susceptible to them, and they have been effective in the past. In this game the devil plays, 2 lies and a truth, I have to be so mindful not to forget my Truth. I am a child of God. I have everything I need. Grace covers me and my shortcomings. I can weather the storm, because, I am the storm.
Don't let the devil get a foothold. Trust the One that made you!
